Chairwork with Schema Modes
ISST Approved Continuing Education
This training will significantly change the way you sit with and respond to your clients.
A featured, intensive training that provides mental health professionals with the tools to raise awareness of the clients' sides, to face the punitive critic, to compassionately let go of protectors, meet the unmet needs of the little child through limited reparenting, and strengthen the healthy adult.
The training begins with a brief overview of the foundations of chairwork and three core techniques of psychodrama, followed by didactic teaching and live demonstrations of empty‑chair, two‑chair, and multiple‑chair configurations. There is also a brief section on imagery rescripting to help participants integrate the two techniques. We additionally focus on micro-skills such as voice, pacing, and tracking affect—basic “must‑know” tools for every schema therapist. Participants will have multiple opportunities to practice these skills.
Several mental health professionals who have attended this training throughout the years have reported gaining a deeper, clearer understanding of how chairwork is carried out with schema modes and why it works, and increased confidence putting it into practice.
This online training is offered either as a 2‑day program with 6 hours per day or a 4‑day program with 3 hours per day (12 hours total). The group will be between 12-24 participants. Participants with full attendance will receive a certificate of attendance documenting 12 ISST CE credits. Applicants must have completed the ISST approved basic 40 hrs training.
